Die ehemalige Feuerwehrwache auf dem ehemaligen MFG5-Gelände in Kiel soll im Rahmen der Sanierung des Gebiets Holtenau-Ost eine neue Funktion erhalten. Unsere Umnutzungsstrategie lautet „Crafting Station“, ein Community Center für das künstlerische Handwerk. Die Umnutzung umfasst Ateliers, Ausstellungsflächen, ein Café, eine Werkstatt und eine multifunktionale Veranstaltungshalle, in denen Kunsthandwerk von und für alle ausgeübt und vermittelt werden kann. Dabei wird die Feuerwehrstation hinsichtlich ihrer funktionalen Struktur überarbeitet und um neue Formen ergänzt, die einen Kontrast zur bestehenden Architektur schaffen. Ein trapezförmiger Schnitt öffnet die Räume und verbindet obere und untere Etagen. Lufträume verbessern nicht nur die Lichtverhältnisse, sondern fördern auch den kreativen Austausch. Eine Stahlkonstruktion sorgt für Stabilität und Kontrast. Die „Crafting Station“ lädt dazu ein, gemeinsam in kreativen Austausch zu treten und sich mit dem Handwerk auseinanderzusetzen.

The abandoned fire station on the former MFG5 site in Kiel is set to take on a new function as part of the Holtenau-Ost area redevelopment. Our repurposing strategy is called "Crafting Station," a community center for artistic craftsmanship. The repurposing includes studios, exhibition spaces, a café, a workshop, and a multifunctional event hall where craftsmanship can be practiced and shared by and for everyone. The fire station’s functional structure is reworked and complemented with new forms that create a contrast to the existing architecture. A trapezoidal cut opens the spaces and connects the upper and lower floors. Air spaces not only improve light conditions but also promote creative exchange. A steel structure adds contrast and stability. The "Crafting Station" invites people to engage in creative exchange and explore craftsmanship.
