Diese Masterarbeit analysiert die algorithmisch bedingte Fragmentierung digitaler Wirklichkeit mit Fokus auf TikTok als soziales Netzwerk der Gegenwart. Daraus entsteht das interaktive Projekt @you.dont.own.me, das algorithmische Prozesse sichtbar macht. Im Zentrum steht eine raumgreifende Installation: Ein Gang aus Spiegeln, Licht und Reizen simuliert das endlose Scrollen der „Für dich“-Seite. Nutzer:innen erleben, wie Algorithmen ihre Perspektiven formen. Ergänzt wird die Installation durch einen Selbsttest kuratierter TikTok-Videos, die Trends verschiedener Filterblasen darstellen. Die politische Einordnung der Trends schafft einen Reflexionsmoment über die algorithmisch fragmentierte Konstruktion unserer eigenen Realität. Das Projekt verbindet medientheoretische Analyse mit künstlerischer Praxis und zielt auf die Förderung kritischer Medienkompetenz in einer von digitalen Strukturen geprägten Gesellschaft.

This master's thesis analyzes the algorithmically induced fragmentation of digital reality with a focus on TikTok as a today's social network. The result is the interactive project @you.dont.own.me, which makes algorithmic processes visible. At the center is an immersive installation: a corridor of mirrors and lights simulates the endless scrolling of the “For you” page. Users experience how algorithms shape their perspectives. The installation is complemented by a self-test of curated TikTok videos that show trends in various filter bubbles. The political classification of the trends creates a moment of reflection on the algorithmically fragmented construction of our own reality. The project combines media-theoretical analysis with artistic practice and aims to promote critical media literacy in a society shaped by digital structures.
