Das japanische Unternehmen Olympus ist weltweit führend im Bereich der Endoskopietechnologie. Die im SoSe 2025 gestartete Kooperation des M.A Medical Design mit der Europazentrale von Olympus in Hamburg ist die erste Kooperation mit einer Designhochschule seitens Olympus überhaupt. Das Projekt ist als Future Vision angelegt und adressiert die Gastroenterologie mit dem Fokus auf Darmkrebs-Vorsorgeuntersuchung (Koloskopie). Ziel der Projektkooperation ist die Entwicklung von Designstrategien, mit denen sich die Endoskopie als positives Sinnbild für die gesellschaftliche Relevanz der Darmkrebs-Vorsorgeuntersuchung etabliert. Zwei studentische Arbeitsgruppen arbeiten in diesem Kontext nun konkret daran , wie sich mit dieser Zielsetzung die Prozesse der Vorbereitung (Darmreinigung) und der Untersuchung technisch, interaktions-, design-, prozess- und kommunikationsorientiert positiv verändern können.

The Japanese company Olympus is a global leader in the field of endoscopy technology. The cooperation between the M.A Medical Design and Olympus‘ European headquarters in Hamburg, which started in summer semester 2025, is Olympus’ first ever collaboration with a design university. The project is designed as a future vision and addresses gastroenterology with a focus on colon cancer screening (colonoscopy). The aim of the project cooperation is to develop design strategies that establish endoscopy as a positive symbol for the social relevance of colon cancer screening. In this context, two student groups are now working specifically on how the processes of preparation (bowel cleansing) and examination can be positively changed in terms of technology, interaction, design, process and communication with this objective in mind.
