Mit "Himmelblau" wird die alte Feuerwache des MFG5-Geländes zu einem Kultur- und Nachbarschaftszentrum. Als neuer Treffpunkt für Besuchende, die Bewohner*innen aus dem Viertel Holtenau und der Flüchtlingsunterkunft vor Ort, bietet das Gebäude Freiheit für das Ausleben und die Weitergabe von Handwerk, Kultur und Tradition. Ziel ist die Stärkung der Nachbarschaft und der Austausch zwischen Kulturen. Mit minimalen Eingriffen wird die Raumqualität verbessert und an ihre neuen Funktionen angepasst. Die Farbe blau gilt in den meisten Kulturen als positiv. Durch sie wird die Enge der Flure aufgebrochen und Orientierung im Gebäude geschaffen. Es entstehen Luft- und Lichträume, die sich durch alle Stockwerke hindurch ziehen. Im Erdgeschoss befinden sich Werkstätten, Ausstellungsräume und ein Café. Je nach Nutzung können Räume durch Schiebe- oder Faltwände verbunden werden. Das erste Geschoss und das Dachgeschoss sind in unterschiedliche Ateliers aufgeteilt, der Turm in Übungsräume für Musik.

The project Himmelblau transforms the old fire station on the MFG5 site into a cultural and community centre. It serves as a meeting place for visitors, residents from Holtenau and the refugee accommodation located there. The building offers freedom to practise and pass on crafts, culture and tradition. The aim is to strengthen the neighbourhood and promote exchange between cultures. With minimal intervention, the quality of the space is improved and adapted to its new functions. The colour blue is considered positive in most cultures. It breaks up the narrowness of the corridors and creates orientation in the building. Air and light shafts are created that run through all floors. Workshops, exhibition spaces and a café are located on the ground floor. Depending on their use, rooms can be connected by sliding or folding walls. The first floor and the top floor are divided into different studios, the tower into practice rooms for music.
