Was wäre, wenn ich ein Bildungssystem schaffen könnte, das Nachhaltigkeit, Umweltsäuberung und Plastikrecycling auf unterhaltsame und leicht verständliche Weise vermittelt? Was wäre, wenn ich gesammelten Plastikmüll in einen Schatz wie einen Goldbarren verwandeln könnte? Aus der Perspektive des Interaction Designs habe ich mich in diesem Projekt darauf konzentriert, eine anregende Reise vom Müll zum Schatz zu gestalten. Da jeder eingeladen ist, an diesem Projekt teilzunehmen und Recycling auch zu Hause auszuprobieren, stellen sich besondere Anforderungen an das benötigte Werkzeugset: Das führte dazu, dass ich ein voll funktionsfähiges und sicher zu benutzendes Gerät zum Schmelzen von Plastik entwickelte, das schrittweise Anleitungen mit einem vollständig integrierten Ofenmanagement kombiniert. Das Herzstück ist das eingebaute Display, das den aktuellen Status anzeigt, durch den Prozess führt und gleichzeitig die Prinzipien von Recycling und Kreislaufwirtschaft vermittelt.

What if I could establish an educational system to teach about sustainability, nature cleanup and plastic recycling in a fun and graspable way? What if I could turn collected plastic trash in some treasure like a gold bar? Tackling this ongoing project from an interaction design perspective, I concentrated on sculpting a stimulating journey from trash to treasure. As everyone is invited to participate in this project and to try recycling at home, the requirements towards a toolset come with quite a challenge: How do you enable untrained users to melt plastic? This led me to build a fully functional and safe-to-use appliance which combines step-by-step guidance with fully integrated furnace management. Centerpiece is the built-in display, which shows the current status and gives instructions on the process while also teaching the principles of recycling and circularity. The system contains a community website, connecting all trashure hunters.
